Winter Camp '09!!!

Woooooo!!! Okay, winter camp was a week ago...and it was AMAZING!!!! It was really cold, and and there was a lot of snow, way more than last year, and then it snowed some more. We had an amazing preacher, Kurt Gephards, come up and teach us the Word. Least of These came up and lead worship for us once again...WHAT A BLESSING!!! It was such a great time of fellowship with one another and the Lord.

One of the highlights of camp for me was the war between my discipleship group, and one of the boy's d-groups. My friend Heather has had this "friendly competition" with one of the guys on staff named Mark. Well, one morning during breakfast Heather decides to go and sit with our d-group leader, Kari. Kari is sitting with her husband Mark and his d-group (yes Kari's husband is Heather's "frenemy"), so that's where we begin our story of "The War of Winter Camp '09".

Later that day, some of my friends and I went out to the swing on the swing set. On our way, we passed a group of people, some of which included Mark and his d-group guys. As we pass by they start throwing snowballs at us, and one hits Heather. Heather in turn makes a snowball and chucks it at Mark, one of his guys catch it and throw it back. So, Heather once again throws another snowball this time hitting one of the innocent bystanders. After this we turn and run, mostly from embarrassment, but also a little bit from fear. We get to our destination (the swings, I don't know why we wanted to go swinging, but that's doesn't matter) and there we devised a plan of revenge.

We planned to surprise Mark and ambush him on his way to dinner. He usually walks up the road behind out cabin, so we decide to make some snowballs (we made extra just in case one or two of his guys were with him), and then we wait, and wait, and wait. Finally one of my friend's said that she saw Mark walking up the other road on his way to dinner. So, three of us rush out the door, grab some snowballs, and TOTALLY SNOW HIM...well, not exactly. Since we're girls, we have bad aim, and having bad aim means not hitting Mark, which means?...FAILURE!!! We failed in ambushing Mark, but...Heather to the rescue!!! She picks up some snow and shoves it down Marks neck. GO HEATHER!!! Mark, in his shocked state, declares that we are messing with the wrong person. He says that he has a posse, and that all his guys are really good at sports, so that have aim and speed. Oh Boy!!

After dinner that night, we see Mark and like eight to ten guys gathered around him. I look at Heather, she looks at me, and then we both look at Mark. Mark says to us..."I told you I have people, I tried to make a truce with you, but you turned it down". Then, all of his guys give all of us a look, and turn their backs. Heather then declares IT IS ON!!! *Note: Mark has like 8-10 athletes on his side...and on our side we have 6 girls...yep, just girls. Even Kari was on Marks side...well, she said that she was on Marks side because she is his wife, but she wouldn't throw any snowballs at us. THANKS KARI!!* Okay, so anyway, Heather writes on a piece of paper "Peace Treaty", then goes up to Mark and rips it in half. All of his guys were like "OOOO, no she didn't!!". Some more threats go between the groups, then it's time for session to begin.

We go into session, worship, and listen to the Word being taught. After that, we went back to our cabins for some reflection time (we were having communion that night), and then came back to worship some more and take communion. Afterwards, Heather walks up to Mark, who it still ready to make a truce, but Heather still turns it down. She then tells Mark, that she doesn't want to be at war, and that she's sorry for all the smart remarks, and wants to be friends. Marks says that she's forgiven because it was all in fun and games anyway.

So, in the end we didn't have our snowball war, but it was fun trying to intimidate the guys, and have some friendly competition. I was kind of relieved because I didn't want to come home with a black eye...or some related injury. I bruise easily people, c'mon!

My name is Jocelyn, and thanks for reading!!
